Back in the day, we'd fight a sticking door on a 90s Otis for hours.

A retired mechanic in Cleveland told me to check the sill rollers with a 9/16 wrench first, not the guide shoes, and it worked every time. Anyone still use that old trick on the newer units?

Honestly, my first move is usually just a frustrated kick. The 9/16 wrench trick sounds smarter than my whole approach.

A 9/16 wrench? That's a size I haven't heard in forever. They still make those?

You mentioning the 9/16 wrench is right. I always went for the guide shoes first, thought it was the only way. That old Cleveland guy's trick about the sill rollers saved me so much time, even on some of the newer models that act up the same way.

That Cleveland trick @oliver_stone15 mentioned, what year did those rollers start giving trouble?
