Had to choose between a $200 used hoist and a $900 new one for a 3-story traction job

Went with the used one to save cash, but it gave out halfway through and cost me a whole day. Anyone ever regret going cheap on a major tool like that?

Remember buying a cheap socket set that rounded off every bolt on my old truck. Spent more time and money extracting broken fasteners than the whole kit cost. Sometimes the savings just moves the cost somewhere else, like your lost day. That sting when a tool fails mid job is the worst kind of lesson. Makes you weigh the risk every single time now.

Yeah that's rough, @scott.olivia. What brand was that socket set so I know what to avoid?

My cheap torque wrench's 20 dollar repair turned into a 400 dollar engine bay visit.
