Overheard a building manager in Cincinnati say 'the elevator just needs a reset' when the door zone tape was clearly shredded.

Honestly that sounds like a normal Tuesday for building maintenance. The tape being messed up looks bad but it might not actually stop the elevator from working. They probably just want to avoid a bigger repair bill right now.

Okay but @walker.julia, what if the messed up tape is covering a crack or a real problem? Seen this before where a building just puts a band-aid on stuff until it breaks for real. Last place I lived had elevator doors that stuck for months, then someone got trapped. Maintenance said it was "just a sensor" until it wasn't.
