A little extra cleaning never hurt anyone, better safe than sorry I say.

yeah totally, I used to be the same way. I got tired of losing jars to contam so I started wiping my SAB down with 70% iso every single time before I even set anything up. been doing that for like 2 years now and honestly I only had one bad batch that time I got lazy and skipped the wipe. its not about being a germ freak, its just about being consistent.

Is it really over-sanitizing though? I mean yeah you can go overboard but a lot of people don't realize how easy it is to get spores or bacteria on stuff. I clean my tools before and after every use and have never had a contam issue.
I think there's a middle ground where you're being clean without being crazy about it. Like wiping down with alcohol between projects is fine but you don't need to soak everything for an hour. Unless you're working with something really nasty then maybe you do.
