My steamer's thermostat gave out mid-facial on a client named Karen last Thursday, so I had to finish with warm towels and a manual extraction.

What's your go-to backup plan when your main tool fails during a booked service?

Is a backup tool really that big of a deal, @thomas441?

My backup extraction tool is always in the sanitizer jar. I keep a stack of those hot towel caddies plugged in too, so the heat source is separate from the steamer.

Sounds like a lot of extra steps for a simple job. Do you really need a separate heat source and a backup tool in a jar? Most people just use the steamer and call it a day. Seems like overkill unless you're doing surgery.

Yeah but that's how you end up with a broken tool mid-session and no backup ready. The sanitizer jar keeps a second tool hot and sterile without taking up steamer space. It's not overkill, it's just being prepared so you never have to tell a client to wait.
