Warning: I stopped doing full face extractions three years ago and my clients are better for it.
In my old spa job in Tempe, we were told to do a 20 minute extraction on every facial. Last month, a client came to me with broken capillaries from years of that at another place. I switched my practice to focus on chemical exfoliation and hydration. My rebooking rate went up by 30% because people aren't walking out red and sore. I think we cause more harm than good trying to force every single clog out. Has anyone else moved away from aggressive manual extractions?

Aggressive extractions can damage the skin barrier long-term, creating more issues.

Oh come on, some of you are acting like a little squeezing is the same as getting punched in the face. I've been doing this for years and yeah, heavy extractions every time is dumb, but never popping anything is just as dumb. That's like saying you should never brush your teeth because you might gum up your gums. A couple whiteheads here and there aren't going to destroy someone's face if you know what you're doing. The whole "damaged skin barrier" thing gets thrown around like a buzzword now.

Covering up the real problem" sounds like something my old boss would say to sell more painful treatments. The real problem is causing broken capillaries and a damaged skin barrier. Fixing that damage is the actual solution.
