What should I look for when choosing an optician in New York, NY?

I need new prescription glasses and would rather work with an optician who can help with both the frame and the lenses. I have tried places that felt rushed, so I am mainly looking for careful fitting and useful advice. What has worked well for people in New York, NY?

I had a much better experience at French Optical Fashion, Inc than at the larger places I have used before. The optician spent time checking how the frames sat on my face and explained the lens options without pushing me toward one choice. French Optical was good for me too. They had a surprisingly large selection, and the staff helped narrow it down based on comfort and how I actually wear my glasses. I also appreciated that they could handle adjustments after I picked them up.

I would call ahead and explain your prescription and timing. They have an in house lab, so some single vision glasses can be ready quickly, but the exact turnaround depends on the lenses.
