I finally looked into that viral photo of the 'giant rat' found in a London sewer
Honestly, I saw it shared a bunch last week and assumed it was real until I checked Snopes and found out it was a photoshop from 2015 based on a nutria. Ngl, it's wild how these old hoaxes just keep coming back every few years. Has anyone else dug into a fake photo recently and been surprised by how long it's been floating around?

Yeah, that "even after it's been debunked" part is so frustrating.

Honestly I just started sending Snopes links to my uncle every single time.

I get what you're saying but isn't it possible that people share these things because they think there's still some truth to it even after it's been debunked? Like once a story gets out there it's hard to kill it completely. Maybe some folks just want to be the one who brings up something others haven't heard about, even if it's old news.

Tbh, what makes people keep sharing stuff like that even after it's been debunked for years?
