Just realized how much harder it's gotten to spot a deepfake in a news clip
I was watching a clip that went around last week about a politician saying something wild. It looked real, the voice sounded right, but something felt off. I spent like an hour digging, checking the original event footage and comparing the mouth movements. Turns out it was a really good fake from a small but dedicated group. I mean, six months ago I could usually tell from the weird skin texture or the eyes not blinking right. Now they've fixed that stuff. It's getting to the point where you need to find the original source video, not just trust your own eyes. Has anyone else run into a fake lately that really made you work to prove it was wrong?

Saw a fake of my favorite singer announcing a tour that broke my heart before I found the source.

Wait, how did you find out it was fake? I always check the official socials first now.

Had a buddy show me a clip of a local coach cursing out a ref. He was ready to boycott the team. Took us checking the game's official stream frame by frame to see the mouth was just slightly out of sync. They're getting too good.
