My local news said a bridge was closed for repairs but I drove right over it
Saw a story on the news site saying the Main Street bridge was shut down for a week. I drove past it an hour later and traffic was totally normal. I checked the city's official page and they said no work was scheduled. It was just a total mix-up from a bad tip. How do these things even get published without a quick check?

The Main Street bridge thing reminds me of when the county website said my recycling day changed. I spent weeks putting the bin out on the wrong day. They just copied an old notice from a different year and never fixed it. It feels like once something gets typed into a system, it just lives forever without anyone double-checking. You'd think they'd make a quick phone call before putting it on the news.

Honestly that "lives forever without anyone double-checking" thing is so true. It's like wilson.olivia said, you gotta check the source yourself now because nobody else will. Tbh I see this with store hours online all the time, they're just wrong.

Yeah, I always check the city's traffic camera feed first (it's saved me a few times).
