That viral video of the 'FEMA detention camp' in Texas - my whole viewpoint flipped

Saw a clip going around last month. Supposedly a secret FEMA camp for political prisoners. Filmed outside El Paso. Looked real. Dark fences. Guard towers. I shared it without thinking. Then my buddy who works construction down there called me out. Said it's just an old Border Patrol storage yard. Been there since 2008. Google Maps confirmed it. Even found a county permit from 2009. Felt like an idiot. How many other 'gotcha' videos are pure context tricks? Anyone else have a moment where a big viral claim just fell apart on you?

My neighbor down the street fell for that "FEMA camp" video too, shared it all over her Facebook page. A few days later her son, who works as a truck driver hauling freight through El Paso, told her it's the same lot he's been picking up from for years, just a warehouse and parking area for seized vehicles. She was so embarrassed she left her post up but added a correction comment that nobody read. She still gets teased about it at church potlucks. Now she sends me anything like that to check before she hits share.

The only thing more stubborn than a Facebook rumor is the person who shared it refusing to take it down. Your neighbor deserves a medal for leaving that correction up, even if nobody reads past the first sentence. At least she learned her lesson, which is more than most folks do.

Exactly! I fell for that same clip and felt like a total fool after.
