This video about a 'haunted' grocery store in my town blew up last month
Honestly, it was just a security guard's shadow from a streetlight, but the clip got 2 million views before anyone checked. I went down there on a Tuesday and took a photo from the same angle to show my friends. How do these things spread so fast when the truth is right there?

You know, Wendy, I see what Beth means about people wanting the spooky story. The truth often feels less exciting, so it gets ignored. We should probably give the boring facts more credit.

It's like people want the spooky story more than the boring truth, idk.

Yeah I read something about this the other day actually, some study about how our brains are wired to remember weird or scary stuff better than normal everyday things. Makes sense when you think about it, @wendy32 the boring truth probably just doesn't stick the same way a good ghost story does. People get attached to the exciting version even when the evidence says otherwise. It's frustrating but not surprising when you look at how most people consume news and info these days.
