Warning: That $30 ancestry DNA kit gave me a family feud I didn't bargain for
I bought one of those popular DNA tests last fall for $30 on sale, just curious about my background. Turns out the results showed my dad wasn't my biological father, which kicked off a whole mess of arguments and hurt feelings. I spent three months fact-checking the claims against old family records and even got a second test done. Has anyone else had a cheap viral test blow up their family tree in a bad way?

Seems like a lot of drama over a $30 sale, could just be a lab mistake.

@hannahcraig what kind of lab mistake could cost someone thirty bucks?

What kind of lab mistake would make someone pay thirty bucks instead of just saying "hey, we messed up"? Seems like if it was an honest error, they'd own it and refund the money right away. Are you saying the buyer should just let it slide without any proof this was actually an accident?
