Hot take: the 'outrage' over the new park sculpture in Greenville is completely manufactured
I walked through the new city park in Greenville yesterday and saw the much-talked-about metal sculpture. It's just a simple, abstract shape, maybe 8 feet tall. The local news had a segment saying people were 'furious' and calling for its removal, but for the 45 minutes I was there, not one person even looked annoyed. A few kids were playing tag around it. It feels like a story created to fill airtime. Has anyone actually met a person who is genuinely upset about this thing?

Victor's point about policy changes is a good one, but it misses the key detail here. The news segment never showed any real people being upset, just a reporter saying they were. That's the manufactured part. Genuine public anger looks different, with actual crowds or petitions. This looks like they needed a local controversy for the six o'clock slot.

Totally agree, it's a non-story. I've seen this happen before where a couple of loud voices get amplified. Just ignore it and it'll blow over by next week.

Yeah but @carr.abby, this feels bigger than just loud voices. The last time something like this got ignored, it turned into a whole policy change at my old job. People are actually pretty upset about the details this time.
