My local news ran a story about a 'controversial' park bench color

They spent three minutes on air calling the new blue benches 'divisive' and 'a slap in the face to tradition', but when I called the parks department, the guy just laughed and said they got a good deal on the paint. It's the most obvious fake outrage I've seen in a while. Has anyone else noticed their local news making a huge deal out of nothing lately?

Oh man, my local station did five minutes on the new roundabout... they called it a "traffic nightmare" but it's just a circle.

Friend of mine lives in a town where the news did a whole segment on a "mysterious buzzing noise" keeping people awake. Turned out some guy's new air conditioner was louder than normal, but they made it sound like a government conspiracy. Same energy as your roundabout story, just filler to stretch the newscast.

Last year our town paper ran a front page story about the "shocking" cost of new trash cans. I called the public works manager and he said they were just standard issue and on budget. I wrote a letter to the editor pointing out the made up drama and they actually printed it. It didn't change much but it felt good. @phoenixk64 your roundabout story is the same exact thing, they need to fill airtime with fake problems.

Local news should hold power to account, even on small things.
