Saw a guy at the library watching a video for those 'magic' cleaning sponges
He was watching one of those ads where they scrub a burnt pan clean in seconds. I always thought they were just okay, but then I heard him tell his friend, 'It's just melamine foam, you can get a big pack for ten bucks.' I looked it up when I got home, and sure enough, the brand name ones are the same stuff with a huge markup. I bought a generic block for eight dollars and it works the same. Has anyone else found a cheap version of a viral cleaning product that actually works?

Oh man, I read a whole article about this. They said the exact same thing, that the expensive brand name sponges are just melamine foam with a marketing budget. The article even tested a bunch of off-brand ones and found they all performed basically the same on scuffs and stains. It's wild how much they charge for the fancy packaging.

My local dollar store sells those melamine sponges in packs of four. I use them on my shower tiles and they get rid of the hard water stains just fine. Honestly the brand name ones feel exactly the same, just with a fancy box. I've saved so much money not falling for the ads.
