Vent: I finally counted how many 'miracle' cleaning pastes I've bought online

The total was 7 different jars, about $140 down the drain. Each one was just baking soda with some oil and scent, repackaged with a fancy name and a huge markup. Has anyone else fallen for a specific type of product this many times before you caught on?

Ugh, that's the worst. I see this everywhere now. Fancy glass jars of "artisan" sea salt that's just salt. Or those little bottles of "wellness" drops for your water. It's all just basic stuff in pretty packaging. Makes you feel silly for buying it twice.

Saw a thing about how they sell "oxygen water" now... like air in a bottle. It's just water with bubbles. The whole wellness aisle is full of that stuff. Pretty bottles of "moon charged" water or salt that says it's from a special beach. Feels like they're just selling a feeling, not a real thing.

I used to fall for that stuff until I read the ingredients.

Hmm, I actually don't mind the pretty jars and fancy labels as much. Sometimes buying a nice looking salt or a cute bottle of drops makes the experience of cooking or drinking water feel a little more special. It's not really about the salt or the water being better, it's about the ritual or the mood it sets. Like lighting a candle doesn't change the air but it changes how you feel in a room. That feeling has value too even if the ingredients are basically the same. I think we all pay a little extra for stuff that makes everyday things feel nicer.
