Hot take: My neighbor thinks I just nail shoes on horses all day.
I mean, they have no idea about the anatomy and care involved. It's kinda funny but also a bit frustrating.

If it's not 'mystical art', why make a big deal out of it?

Seriously, I saw a video where a farrier explained it's like being a mix of a carpenter and a podiatrist for a 1200 pound animal. You have to shape each hot shoe by hand to fit that exact hoof's angles, not just nail on a standard size. That's the part that looks simple but takes years to get right.

Exactly, sometimes people make simple things sound way harder than they are. It's still a real skill, just not some secret magic. The basics are pretty straightforward once you see them done right.

Look, from the outside it really is just specialized shoe fitting. You clean the foot, trim the extra growth like a dog's nail, and attach a metal shoe. Most pet owners grasp the basics of trimming claws or filing beak overgrowth. The real skill is in the craft and the animal handling, but the core task isn't some mystical art. It's okay if a neighbor just sees the simple result.
