My old boss in Kentucky swore by a specific rasp for quarter cracks
He always said, 'Use the 10-inch Heller, not the 8-inch, for better control.' I finally tried it on a tough case last month and the longer handle made a huge difference in my pressure. Anyone have a different go-to tool for that kind of work?

Wait, your old boss actually used a Heller rasp on quarter cracks? I've only ever seen people use nippers or a Dremel for that kind of precision work. Using a rasp that big seems like it would be way too aggressive on the hoof wall.

Yeah, the Heller rasp does sound too aggressive for quarter cracks. I've seen people mess up good hooves with tools that are way too big for the job. It's one of those things that makes you cringe when you know better.

Oh man, I saw a guy once try to use a regular rasp for that and he totally wrecked the hoof.
