Showerthought: an old client's comment about my nail clinches
About ten years back, a client in Lexington pointed out my clinches were always a bit too proud on his hunter's front shoes. I started setting them just a hair deeper, maybe a millimeter, and it made a huge difference in how clean the foot looked and moved. Anyone else get a piece of feedback that stuck with you like that?

A farrier once told me to rasp the quarters smoother.

Oh yeah, that's totally a thing. My farrier did the same thing on my gelding after I mentioned he was dragging his toes in the sand arena. It made a world of difference in his stride almost right away, he felt way more forward and didn't stumble as much on the lunge.

Hey @alice928, wasn't there an article about how that helps with breakover?

Oh yeah, @alice928, my farrier does that for my mare too. He takes the rasp to the back edge of her front hooves, just a little bit, after a trim. It really seemed to help her move more freely on tight turns.
