Update on that glue-on shoe system I doubted for a rehab case
I had a client with a foundered pony in Boise who needed a break from nails, so I tried the Equi-Pak and glue-on combo after seeing it online. After three months of turnout, the shoes held solid and the hoof wall looks way better than I expected. Has anyone else had a glue-on job last that long on a tough pasture case?

My buddy in Montana tried the same glue-on setup on his old quarter horse that was notorious for losing shoes in his muddy corral. He slapped them on in April, and they stayed put through a whole spring of rain and muck until the farrier came back in June. We were both shocked when he sent me a photo of the hooves still looking clean and solid at the reset. Have you seen any weird wear patterns on the glue itself after that long?

Guess you're eating your words with a side of glue now, huh? Three months in a pasture and they didn't pop off? That's basically a miracle. I would've bet money that pony was coming back barefoot in a week. Makes you wonder what else we're all wrong about.

That pony's hooves must be made of something special, emery_jackson29. Three months with no trimming and they're still on? My old gelding would lose a shoe just looking at a puddle. Maybe we should all just turn them out and save the farrier money.

Yeah, the "miracle" part got me lol. My buddy had a similar thing with his draft cross last spring. That horse was a total klutz and would rip regular shoes off in the mud. They tried some glue-ons as a last shot before just pulling shoes for good. We all joked they'd be gone in a week. Dude left them on for a full eight-week cycle in a soggy field, and they were still totally fine at the next trim. It really does make you question the old rules sometimes.
