Appreciation post: I used to buy 10 shirts from a fast fashion site every season, now I only pick up 2 or 3 from secondhand shops
Last year I was that person who'd drop $80 on a Shein haul every few months, but I started noticing the fabric felt thinner after just two washes. In February I switched to buying only from thrift stores in my neighborhood, and I found a vintage Levi's jacket for $12 that's still holding up great. It feels kind of goofy to celebrate not buying as much, but my closet feels less cluttered and I actually wear everything I own now. Has anyone else noticed their clothes last way longer once they stopped going for those ultra cheap brands?

Wait, do I get a medal for finally realizing my $8 shirt wasn't supposed to disintegrate after three washes? Yeah, I'm right there with you. My closet used to be full of crap that looked okay on the hanger but fell apart before I even wore it twice. Now I buy way less but it's actually stuff I'm excited to put on. Your vintage Levi's find is a total score, that jacket will probably outlive all of us. The funniest part is my friends compliment my "new" outfits now and I'm like, "Thanks, it's from 1997 and cost less than a burrito." Clutter down, quality up, it's a good look.

Right, and now I'm the guy who brags about paying $12 for a jacket at Goodwill like it's a major life achievement. My friends are probably tired of hearing "Thanks, it's vintage" when really I just can't stomach spending $80 on something that'll fall apart in a year. The worst part is I still have this one shirt from Target I bought back in 2015 that's somehow indestructible, but every nice thing I buy now seems to get a hole in the elbow after two wears.

1997 burrito math is a solid metric, @nina_taylor. You ever think the real flex is telling people the price before they can ask?
