I tracked one of those 'haul' dresses from a video to its actual factory
Saw a huge haul video for a dress that cost $12, and the person said it was 'just as good' as a brand name one. I found the same dress on a site that lists factory info, and it came from a place in Dhaka with a ton of safety complaints from last year. The brand name version, which was $80, came from a different factory in the same city with a clean record and a union deal. The cheap one fell apart after two washes, but my friend has had the other one for over a year. Makes you wonder what we're really paying for, right? Has anyone else tried to trace where a super cheap item actually came from?

You said it "makes you wonder what we're really paying for," but honestly, most people just need a cheap dress for one night. Not everyone can drop $80 on a single item, so that $12 option serves a real purpose even if it doesn't last. The brand name version is a luxury, not a requirement.

Actually the $80 dress was the cheap option, the brand one was over $300. That's the real shocker.

That Dhaka factory info is a real eye opener, makes me side-eye my whole closet now. I get what @quinnm77 is saying about needing a cheap option for one night, but my last $12 dress ripped before I even left the house, so my one night out turned into a panic attack. I guess I'm paying for the chance to not have a wardrobe malfunction in public, which honestly feels worth the extra cash. My bank account is crying, but at least my clothes aren't.
