Update: I bought a $12 viral dress and it fell apart in one wash

I saw this dress all over my feed last month and ordered it from a site I didn't know. It looked fine when it arrived, but after washing it once on a gentle cycle, the seams just came undone. I used to think a good deal was just about the price tag, but now I check for reviews about fabric quality and stitching before I click buy. Has anyone else had a piece completely fail after the first wash?

What do you look for in the bad reviews? I skip the ones just complaining about shipping and hunt for people who mention the same thing, like "threads came loose" or "fabric pilled after one wear." If three people say the stitching is bad, I believe them. @logan_wood is right, it changes the game. I also check the mid-range star reviews, not just the fives or the ones. Someone giving three stars might actually talk about how it fits and feels.

Yeah, checking reviews for fabric quality is a total game changer.

Honestly, how do you even trust reviews for fabric though? Tbh I've seen so many fake ones or people who clearly don't know what they're talking about. Ngl I bought a jacket last month based on glowing reviews saying it was thick, and it felt like tissue paper. Do you have a trick for spotting the real reviews from the fake ones? Like do you only read the ones with photos or something?
