Changed my mind about those 'pay with cash for a discount' fast food deals

I used to think getting 10% off for paying cash at a local burger place was a smart move. Saved maybe $2 per visit. Then last Tuesday I went in with $40 cash for a family meal, handed it over, and the kid at the register dropped it behind the counter. Manager said it wasn't their problem because I didn't get a receipt. Walked out with no food and no money. Lost the whole $40. Now I just use my card everywhere, even if it costs a little more. Anyone else get burned by these cash only deals?

That sucks, but did they at least offer to check the cameras?

oh i saw something about how half those cameras are fake anyway, just for show. i read this whole article about how most businesses just have dummy cameras to scare people off without paying for the real ones
