I actually liked the weird 'secret menu' burger I got at that new spot on Elm Street, even though everyone online says it's a mess.

The cashier in Portland looked at me like I was crazy when I ordered it, but the mix of peanut butter, bacon, and pickles on a double patty was surprisingly good, so why does everyone act like these off-menu items are always a fail?

Honestly, most people just hate being the odd one out. If a menu item gets labeled as weird online, folks will pile on without even trying it. That peanut butter bacon combo sounds wild, but I get it, sometimes those weird mixes just work. Next time, don't even mention the online stuff, just order it and enjoy your burger in peace.

Yeah I saw a food blog talk about this exact thing, how people just copy online hate. @shanec61 is right, you gotta just ignore it and eat what you like. That burger sounds good to me.

Totally get that. My friend ordered a burger with pineapple and teriyaki sauce once, got the same weird looks. She just shrugged and ate it, said it was actually really good. Now half the table tries it whenever we go back.
