My 50th fast food receipt this year was for a burger that was just the bun and a single pickle.
I keep all my receipts in a jar, and when I hit number 50 last week, it was for that sad excuse for a meal from a drive-thru in Madison. On one hand, it's just a fluke, but on the other, it feels like a sign of slipping standards. What's the weirdest 'missing item' fail you've had that made you question going back?

That burger story is just the tip of the iceberg, honestly. It feels like every other week there's a new corner cut, whether it's a missing item or shoddier ingredients. Makes you wonder if they're even trying to get the simple stuff right anymore. What was the last thing that broke your trust with a place you used to like?

Man, I had the opposite happen with my usual diner. They messed up my order twice last month, but the manager called me personally to make it right and gave me a free meal next time. Sometimes a bad day is just a bad day, you know? Have you ever had a place surprise you by fixing a mistake well?

Honestly that burger fail would make me question everything too. It's not just the missing patty, it's the total lack of care before handing it out. My last straw was a burrito that was just rice and a single bean.
