My burger was just lettuce and sauce last Tuesday
I ordered a double cheeseburger at the drive-thru on Maple Street, paid $8.50, and drove home. When I opened the box, there was no patty, just two buns with lettuce, pickles, and ketchup. I called and the manager said 'sometimes the meat falls off the grill,' which made zero sense. Has anyone else gotten a completely empty burger before?

That "meat falls off the grill" excuse is total nonsense. It's just a bad assembly line. Did you actually go back to the location or just call? I'd have driven right back and made them open a new burger in front of me. A picture of the empty bun mess would have been good for a refund too.

Actually worked a grill line for a summer, and patties can totally slide apart if they're too thin or the grill's overloaded. It's a real thing, but it's also a sign they're rushing. A good spot would just make a new one, no argument.

Ever wonder how many places just tape the box shut and hope you don't complain? A rushed grill means they're cutting corners everywhere, not just with patties. That's how you end up with cold fries and missing toppings on the same order. They bank on most people being too busy to fight it.

That missing patty could be a sign their grill temp is actually running too hot, burning thin patties into nothing before they even get flipped. If they're not checking their equipment regularly, you're probably not the first person to get a ghost burger.
