That time a cashier at Taco Bell gave me the wrong advice about the cravings box

I was at Taco Bell last Tuesday and asked if I could swap out the hard shell taco for a soft one in the cravings box. The cashier said nope, they can't do that, it's a set deal. I believed him and just ordered it anyway. Turns out a buddy of mine works there and told me they totally can do swaps, that guy just didn't feel like hitting the button for it. Anyone else get lied to by a fast food worker about a simple substitution?

Totally reminds me of the time I was at Wendy's and asked for no tomatoes on a burger and the girl said they don't have any tomatoes that day. Like, MA'AM I can literally see them sitting right there on the prep table. Some people just do not want to push buttons I swear.

Gotta say @fionafoster, maybe the worker was just tired of people making their job harder. I've worked fast food and sometimes you get so many custom orders you just start saying no to stuff to keep the line moving. Not saying it's right, but when someone asks for no tomatoes they might be thinking about the extra second it takes to pick them off. Plus, if the tomatoes were sitting there already on the prep table, maybe they were already prepped for something else and the employee didn't want to waste a batch. Either way, it's annoying but I get why some people just hit auto-pilot. You ever think about that side of it?

Once I asked a guy for no onions and he handed me a burger with just the bun.
