My client's dog chewed up a corner of the new vinyl plank, so I patched it with a piece from the closet
Three months later, the patch job looks perfect but the original floor in the living room has faded from the sun. Anyone else had a hidden piece end up being the best sample of the original color?

Ha, classic! Craig.viola is wrong, sun fade is super common. That closet piece is now your color guide.

Disagree completely, that's just bad luck. Most floors fade evenly so a hidden piece would look weird. You just got unlucky with a bad batch of flooring.
