Remember when we all used to cut planks with a handsaw on site?

I was on a big job in Boise about ten years ago, and the lead guy brought in one of the first portable miter saws I'd ever seen. We finished a whole room's worth of cuts before lunch. Anyone else have a moment like that where a new tool just changed the whole pace of a day?

Finished a whole room's worth of cuts before lunch" is the real magic right there. I helped my uncle build a deck once and we spent two days just on cuts with a circular saw and a jig. Then his neighbor brought over a miter saw. We caught up and were done by that afternoon. It felt like cheating, but the good kind.

That "felt like cheating" feeling is why old guys hate new tools.

@the_alice reminds me of the first time I saw a cordless impact driver.
