Saw a new vinyl plank pattern at a hotel in Nashville that threw me off

I was staying at a place downtown last weekend and the lobby floor looked like wide plank hardwood from a distance. Got up close and it was actually a 9 inch wide LVP with a texture I've never felt before, almost like real brushed oak. The install was perfect, no visible seams even in the high traffic area by the doors. Has anyone else run into this super wide format stuff on a commercial job?

Yeah, the pattern repeat thing is real. My buddy did his whole basement in that wide stuff and from his couch you can see this weird line where the same wood grain starts over... drives him nuts now.

Wait, nine inches wide? That's crazy... I've only seen the normal skinny stuff. A whole lobby floor with planks that big must have looked wild up close. The seams being invisible is the real shocker though, even by the doors. Makes you wonder what brand it even was.

We used a 7-inch wide commercial LVP on a library project last year. The key was a full spread adhesive instead of click lock. It held up to book carts and the texture hid scuffs surprisingly well. The wider planks do show off the pattern repeat more, so you have to be careful with the layout.

Oh man, that point about the pattern repeat is so true! I put some 8-inch LVP in my home office and from my desk chair I can totally see this one plank where the grain just starts over. It's like a weird ghost line. You really have to shuffle the boxes and plan it out way more than the normal stuff.
