Vent: A simple plank replacement in a Phoenix condo turned into a two day nightmare
The client had one damaged vinyl plank in the middle of the room, and the whole floor was glued down with that heavy duty pressure sensitive adhesive. I figured an hour, tops. It took me six hours just to cut out the old plank without wrecking the ones around it, and another four the next day to get the new piece seated perfectly. What's your go-to method for pulling a single glued plank without making a bigger mess?

My Milwaukee multi tool with a plunge cut blade is the only way. You have to cut the plank into smaller sections first to break the adhesive's hold. Trying to pry a whole piece out is a guaranteed disaster.

Cutting it up first is smart, but have you tried a heat gun to soften the glue?

My buddy tried the heat gun trick on his laminate. Ended up melting the top layer of the subfloor. Made this awful sticky mess. Took him a whole weekend to scrape it clean.
