I used to think those flower food packets were just colored sugar.

A regular customer brought back a bouquet last week that was still perfect after 10 days. She said she followed the packet directions exactly, changing the water every other day. I tried it myself with some test roses, and they actually lasted almost two weeks instead of my usual eight or nine days. Has anyone else done a side-by-side test with and without the packets?

Oh yeah, those packets are the real deal. They have stuff to stop bacteria and a little acid to help the stems take in water. I used to skip them too, thinking it was just a gimmick. But cutting the stems and changing the water with fresh packet mix makes a huge difference, my flowers don't droop as fast. It's a simple step but it really works.

But is it really that serious to go through all that?

Wait, are we talking about flower food or a top secret science project? I just dumped the powder in and hoped for the best. Now I feel like I need a lab coat and safety goggles just to arrange a bouquet.
