My neighbor's comment about my wedding bouquet changed how I see my work

I made a bouquet for a wedding last weekend, and the bride's aunt came up to me after. She said, 'You know, I still have the flowers you made for my mother's funeral five years ago. I pressed the main rose.' I was just doing my job back then, trying to make something nice for a hard day. I never thought about the flowers living on like that, past the service. It made me stop and really look at what I'm putting together. Now I'm wondering if I should add a 'keepsake' flower to more arrangements, something that dries well. Do any of you build pieces with a part meant to be saved?

Consider using flowers that dry well already.

It's the quiet things that last, isn't it?
