Vent: I tried a new floral foam brand for a big wedding job and it was a total mess

I had a huge wedding order for 25 centerpieces last Saturday. I usually stick with Oasis foam, but the supplier was out, so I grabbed a box of a cheaper brand called 'Everlast'. Big mistake. The stems wouldn't stay put, and the whole thing started to fall apart after just 6 hours. The Oasis foam holds water and structure for days, no question. I had to redo half the arrangements the morning of the event. Has anyone else had a bad experience with off-brand foam? I need a reliable backup supplier.

I used to think all foam was the same until a disaster like yours. Angela_patel75 is right about sticking with the good brands, because the cheap stuff just falls apart. I won't risk my work on anything but Oasis now.

Try Smithers-Oasis brand instead?

Yeah, I switched to Smithers-Oasis last year like angela_patel75 said and it's way better.

Damn @xena582, how long did it take you to notice the difference? I'm curious if it was an immediate thing or if you had to mess up a few arrangements first. I might make the switch but I want to know what really sold you on it.
