That viral honey garlic chicken recipe was a total disaster in my kitchen
I tried that TikTok honey garlic chicken hack where you just throw everything in one pan and walk away. Ended up with burnt sugar all over my stove and chicken that tasted like charred smoke. I followed the video exactly too, same pan size, same heat setting, same timing. But the video clearly used some kind of fake syrup that didn't scorch, and my real honey turned into a black mess in under 5 minutes. Now I'm scrubbing crusted sugar off my burner grates and I'm pretty sure the whole thing was staged with corn syrup. How do these creators get away with cooking with fake ingredients and calling it a recipe?

Had the same thing happen so now I use honey with a splash of water and keep the heat low, stir it constantly while it cooks. Real honey just burns if you let it sit alone on high heat.

Wait, you're saying that video used fake syrup? Are you serious? I totally fell for that too and was wondering why my kitchen looked like a crime scene.

Four tablespoons of that "magic syrup" and my counter looked like a murder scene. Used corn syrup and food coloring instead of whatever they had. Took me three hours to scrub the red splatter off the ceiling. Never trusting a hack that starts with "just add this one simple ingredient" again.
