Took me 4 tries to get that stupid 2 ingredient dough to actually work

You know those videos where they just mix self rising flour and Greek yogurt and get perfect bagels? Yeah mine came out like hockey pucks for three weekends straight. Finally figured out you gotta let the dough rest for like 15 minutes before shaping it. Nobody in those clips mentions that part. Has anyone else had a viral recipe fight back like that?

Is it really that serious though? I mean, I get being frustrated but it's just dough, not a life or death situation. Are people actually losing sleep over bagels not turning out like the perfect Instagram version? Seems like a lot of drama for something you can just buy at the store for a couple bucks. Plus half those viral recipes are clickbait anyway, they never tell you the little tricks that make it work. Probably just a scheme to get views and make people feel bad about their kitchen skills.

Four weekends of hockey puck bagels? That's some serious dedication right there.

Wait no, emma's missing the point. The frustration isn't about chasing some fake Instagram look, it's about the wasted time and ingredients after following a recipe step by step. Four weekends of dense hockey pucks means you spent a whole month trying to learn something and got nowhere. That's not drama, that's just human frustration. And saying "just buy them at the store" makes no sense, people bake because they want to make it themselves. The bagel thing is a real pain point for home bakers, especially since the trick is in the boiling and shaping which most recipes gloss over.
