Can we talk about the safety gear at the old steel mill museum in Pittsburgh?
I was there last weekend and saw they had the original leather aprons and goggles on display, but zero mention of modern respirators or heat-resistant sleeves. It felt like they were romanticizing the danger instead of showing how far we've come to protect workers. What's the most outdated safety practice you've seen glorified somewhere?

Yeah, the part about "romanticizing the danger" really hits home. I saw a historical display for loggers once that showed those old crosscut saws like they were cool tools, but didn't say a word about hearing loss from chainsaws or modern protective chaps. It makes the past seem tough and simple, but it just ignores how many people got hurt.

Honestly, do you think they leave that stuff out on purpose to make the past look better? Or is it just lazy research?

My local mining museum had a whole case for the old carbide lamps but didn't mention black lung once. I ended up asking a guide about modern ventilation and they actually added a note card later.
