Showerthought: Heard a new guy say he never wears his respirator for short pours

My foreman told him 'silica doesn't care if you're only in there for five minutes', which honestly flipped a switch for me. Anyone else have a simple rule that keeps you safe?

Learned that one the hard way mixing a small batch of floor leveler in a bathroom. Thought cracking a window was enough and coughed up grey dust for two days. Now the mask goes on before I even open the bag, no exceptions.

Used to think a fan was enough for small jobs... then got a lungful of drywall dust. Never again, mask is first thing on now.

Just read that again and my throat hurts thinking about it. Two whole days coughing up grey dust? That's brutal, man. I can't believe you thought a window crack would handle floor leveler powder, that stuff is like toxic talcum powder. Makes me wonder what else we're all breathing in without realizing. Seriously good call making the mask rule non-negotiable now.

My uncle did that for years, he's fine.
