Spent $350 on a new respirator system and it's already giving me grief
I finally upgraded my old half mask to a powered air purifying respirator for the core room, thinking it would be a game changer with all the silica dust. The battery died after just two hours on the first big pour, and I had to finish the shift with my eyes burning. Has anyone found a PAPR that actually holds a charge for a full shift?

Honestly I was in the same boat, thought a PAPR was the end-all solution. That first dead battery on a pour is a real wake up call. I learned the hard way you gotta check the actual work temp rating, not just the advertised runtime. Now I keep a spare battery warming up in the truck just in case.

Ugh, that's brutal. Maybe check if your battery is actually rated for cold temps, since concrete work is often in chilly spaces (which murders battery life). A lot of those specs are for perfect lab conditions.
