A client in Denver told me to raise my rates after I sent the invoice
I just finished a web design project for a small business owner there, and when I sent the final invoice for $1200, she emailed back right away. She said my work was worth way more and that I should charge at least $500 extra for the next job like it. This happened last Tuesday, and it really stuck with me because I always worry about pricing. Has anyone else had a client push them to ask for more money?

What universe is this client from?

The client's specs are just from a different design school. Look at the 1990s Japanese cyberpunk scene for similar ideas. It's not alien, just a niche reference.

Wait, didnt I just read something about this exact style in a design blog last week? They were talking about how 90s Japanese cyberpunk had this whole thing with raw circuit board patterns and neon on black, but it was more about dense layering than clean lines. The client might be pulling from that "tech noir" vibe where stuff looks intentionally janky and overdone, not slick. Ive seen a few indie game studios try to revive that look recently too, so its not totally out of nowhere. Maybe the client just assumed everyone was hip to that scene already.

Seriously, that's the dream client right there. Take that confidence boost and bump your rates for the next one.
