I used to think a home office was a waste of space until I saw a setup in a Seattle library

I was working from the main reading room last week and saw a freelance writer with a full kit. She had a laptop stand, a small portable light, and noise-canceling headphones, all packed in one bag. She told me she bills about $500 more per month now that she can work comfortably from anywhere. It made me realize my kitchen table setup is actually costing me money in lost focus. How do you guys make a portable office that actually works?

Portable laptop stand is a game changer for your neck. Get a decent power bank so you're not hunting outlets. Makes any cafe feel like a real desk.

Honestly, that bit about "not winning any awards" with just a laptop and granola bar is basically me. I once tried to do a full work day from a park bench with like half a battery and spilled coffee on my jeans. Now I keep a foldable keyboard in my bag because typing on a laptop alone for hours makes my wrists angry. Ngl, the portable light thing she mentioned actually sounds smart too because I've been stuck under weird cafe lighting and couldn't see my screen.

My go bag is just my laptop and a granola bar, so I'm clearly not winning any awards here. @betty_perry24, I need your packing list because my version of portable is just being sad at a different table.
