Just saw a full page ad for a freelance tax service in the back of a coffee shop magazine
I was at The Daily Grind on 5th Street yesterday, flipping through one of those free city magazines while waiting for a client call. The last page was a full ad for a company that only does taxes for freelancers and small businesses. It hit me that this is a real thing now, a whole business built on our specific mess of 1099s and write offs. Made me feel less alone in the paperwork struggle, honestly. What other weirdly specific services have you guys seen pop up for freelancers lately?

Honestly @violag80, a whole service just for separate bank accounts? That feels like a solution looking for a problem. I just use two folders in my filing cabinet, one for each main client. The custom spreadsheet person is kind of funny though, like how hard is it to make your own columns for hours and pay?

Yeah, that line about feeling less alone in the paperwork struggle is so real. I mean, I saw an ad last week for a service that only sets up and manages separate bank accounts for different freelance gigs. Like, that's all they do. And there's a person on instagram who just makes custom spreadsheets for tracking project hours and sends you a video on how to use it. It's wild how many little specific problems we all have that someone is now trying to fix.

Right? The "little specific problems" thing is spot on. I saw someone selling a kit just for organizing your USB cords by color and length. Not even fancy cables, just the basic ones. And another account that only posts different ways to label the bins in your garage. It's like every tiny annoyance has its own guru now.
