Filming a restaurant promo had me battling kitchen steam

I got a gig to shoot a video for a new cafe last week. While filming the barista making coffee, the steam from the machine kept clouding my camera lens. It took forever to get a clear shot without wiping it every few seconds. Now I'm wondering if there's a better way to deal with moisture during food shoots. What tricks do you use for filming in humid places like kitchens?

Honestly the steam from the machine thing is such a pain. My buddy who films cooking videos swears by this antifog spray for lenses, says it saved him when shooting soup dumplings. Tbh I should probably get some too.

Totally get where your buddy is coming from with that spray trick. It makes me wonder if @the_beth has tried any of those home fixes, like rubbing a tiny bit of soap on the lens before you start. The fog is the worst because it just ruins the shot completely (and you don't always notice until you're done filming). That spray sounds way more reliable than the old potato method I heard about once. Honestly, keeping a lens cloth in your pocket is good, but it doesn't stop the fog from happening in the first place.
