Had a drone battery fail mid-flight over the Santa Monica Pier
I was filming a client's brand launch video, about 200 feet up, when my main drone just dropped. It was a brand new battery, but it went from 60% to zero in seconds. I managed to crash-land it in the sand, missing the crowd by maybe 30 feet. Has anyone else had a battery fail like that, and what brand do you trust now?

Man, that's a nightmare scenario right there. Just reading that made my stomach drop. The sudden battery failure is the worst, especially when you're on a job. I had a similar thing happen last year, not over a crowd thank god, but it turned out to be a bad cell in what was supposed to be a fresh battery. It completely shook my trust. I'm super careful about checking battery health now before every single flight, even with new ones.

Totally been there myself, a new battery went bad mid-flight over a lake and I was just praying it would make it back to shore.

Shook my trust" is putting it mildly, I'd need therapy.

Wait, a brand new battery did that?
