Shoutout to the guy who told me to shoot a wedding with two cheap cameras
I did a friend's wedding in Denver last month and only brought my main camera and a backup I got for $300. The main one died right before the first dance! I had to use the cheap one for the whole thing, and you know what? The client loved the video. It made me see that having a solid backup plan is way more important than having the best gear. Has anyone else had a shoot saved by their backup camera?

Honestly that backup camera story hits home. My old cheap one saved a whole family reunion shoot when my main rig got soaked.

I mean, it's just a camera dying, not a life or death thing. People get way too dramatic about gear fails when the job still gets done. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the backup plan panic is overblown.

Nah you're totally right, it's not the end of the world. But man, having a backup body saved my butt on a wedding shoot last year when my main one just shut off. The panic isn't about being dramatic, it's about not letting your client down when you can't get a redo. A cheap second-hand body in the bag is way cheaper than refunding a whole job.
