A guy at a flea market in Knoxville told me he only uses boiled linseed oil on walnut, nothing else. Said it 'lets the wood breathe'. Been thinking about that for a week.

Look at it this way, logan_wood. In my experience, people tend to make a huge deal out of stuff that just isn't. It's probably not that deep or serious. Most of the time these things work themselves out without all the extra worry. Taking a step back usually shows it's not worth the stress. We get caught up in the small details and miss the bigger picture.

But isn't that the whole point of being thoughtful about something? Like, people say "don't overthink it," but sometimes a little thinking is exactly what keeps you from making a bigger mess down the road. Betty sort of hinted at that by saying taking a step back helps you see the bigger picture, right? So where's the line between being careful and just spinning your wheels? Really curious what makes something overthinking versus just plain common sense.
