My new phone's battery life reviews were totally wrong, here's how I found out
I kept seeing reviews for the Zephyr X2 saying the battery only lasts 'a full day' and you need to charge it every night. I've had mine for three weeks now and I'm ending most days with over 40% left, even with my normal use. I think a lot of reviewers just run a standard battery test app and call it good, but they don't actually use the phone like a person does. They probably have the screen brightness maxed and a bunch of background apps running that most folks close. My routine is just social media, some calls, and music, and this thing is a tank. It makes me wonder how many other gadgets get judged on weird lab tests instead of real life. Has anyone else bought something recently where the battery reviews were way off from your actual experience?

Honestly, your bit about weird lab tests reminds me of laptop reviews that test gaming with the screen dimmed way down.

Oh wow, @jessicap82, that actually makes total sense now.

My buddy got that rugged tablet for camping after reading it had "mixed" battery life. They tested it streaming video non-stop. He uses it for GPS and the odd photo over a weekend, and it just won't die. He came back from a three-day trip and it was still showing 20 percent. The test was right, but for the wrong job.
