Pro tip: Do not trust the 'waterproof' rating on that cheap fitness tracker from Amazon

I had to pick between a $30 tracker and a $90 one for swimming, and the cheap one died after two laps in my local pool. The screen went black and now it just buzzes at me. Has anyone found a real waterproof tracker that does not cost a fortune?

Yeah, that waterproof rating is more like a suggestion if you don't pay close attention. The cheap ones often just have a basic seal that fails under real pressure, like from swimming strokes. It's not that they're all useless when wet, but you need to look for a real swim rating, not just splash proof. My old one survived rain but died in the shower, so you really have to check the fine print.

So your tracker just turned into a fancy poolside buzzer?

Honestly I saw an article saying they're basically useless if they get wet.
